They say you need four things to survive the game of life: a good doctor, a forgiving priest, a clever accountant and a trademark Bloody Mary recipe. Until you perfect your own, feel free to hobble along on the following crutches.
Sanguine miracles
Bluefoot Lounge -- "The Gunslinger"
A kick of Guinness Stout, a swig of olive juice and Worcestershire, a pair of lemon wedges and salsa smuggled from Picante's next door accompany the vodka in Dana Chavarria's mixless masterpiece. His tomato wizardry rarely fails to attract a herd of hangover-stricken folk who line up outside Bluefoot on Sunday mornings, waiting ever so sluggardly for the bar to unlock its doors.

Turf Supper Club -- "Green bean buffet”
You know that Halloween game where kids pass around fistfuls of Jell-O, spaghetti and such in the dark, pretending they’re some old corpse’s clammy body parts? It obviously inspired the Turf’s Bloody Mary, which bears limp green beans sprouting from between the ice cubes like witch fingers, octopus tentacles, tarantula legs or something along those creepy-crawly, slimy lines. Always ask for extra.

The Tractor Room -- "Got a fork?”
$$$$
The secret to losing weight lies within choosing a cocktail whose garnishes double as food items you’d actually consider eating. Spiked with bouillon and balsamic vinegar, the Tractor Room’s Ketel One Bloody Mary comes with two sides -- green beans and olives -- and for your main course, a stalk of free-range buffalo jerky shoved into the center. It turns out alcohol can make even Atkins livable.

East Village Tavern + Bowl -- "There's Something About Mary"
$$$$
Mark the time that passes ‘til they call your name for a lane not in minutes but thoughts of Cameron Diaz, EVTB’s inspiration for its Chicago-style Bloody Mary: a shot of Worcestershire, a shot of Frank’s RedHot sauce, the juice of an entire lime, a spoonful of black pepper, a bit of Guinness and the standard vodka and mixer medley.
