The Skinny
Mixing "Kid A" indie experimental post-rock with a pinch of drum 'n' bass and avant garde hip-hop, the U.K. band Hood transports shoegazer mentality to new territory. On the 2002 release "Cold House," the Leeds-based Hood combines Brian Eno-influenced ambient (propelled with backward tracks) and mixes digital click tracks. MCs Dose One and Why? (cLOUDDEAD, Anticon) add percussive flavor to the mix.
cLOUDDEAD
Bay Area indie hip-hop crew cLOUDDEAD (Dose One, Why? and Odd Nosdam) have built indie cred in rap, post rock and the avant garde.
