Girl in a Coma draws its name from the 1987 Smiths' song “Girlfriend in a Coma,” which may partly explain why ex-Smiths' singer Morrissey picked this San Antonio trio to open his most recent European tour. With Nina Diaz's potent lead vocals riding on top of smart songs that fuse The Pixies and Siouxie Sioux with The Breeders and The Ramones. But Diaz sounds wiser than her 19 years and Girl in a Coma plays with enough grit to make their Saturday gig at North Park's Bar Pink worth attending. barpink.com; (619) 564-7194
