Known for hauntings and occurences attributed to several untimely deaths -- including one of Thomas and Anna Whaley's children, a neighbor child and a gallows-era thief known as Yankee Jim Robinson -- the Whaley House has a spooky history and is one of only two certified "haunted" houses in California.
The Whaley House will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday during the month of October. Daytime admission (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.) is $6 for adults and $4 for children, ages 3-12. Evening admission (7 to 10 p.m.) is $10 for adults and $5 for children, ages 3-12. Tickets are available at the door. On Oct. 13, 26, 27 and Halloween, the Whaley House will be open from 10 a.m. to midnight. Admission on Halloween is $15. For more information, call (619) 297-7511.
