Critical Mass isn't so much about tying up auto traffic at intersections, though that's inevitable when 250 plus cyclists of varying leg strengths go for a 20 mile ride at night. Listen impatient motorist, this isn't a Tour-de-France peloton.

It's a group of people who are being the change they want to see in the world: protesting our auto dependency, celebrating a bike ride best described as "wheeee! fun." (At least when the serious riders aren't showing off or making drama. Speaking of drama, get insight into this international movement: See the documentary "Still We Ride," about the police confrontation with CM riders outside the Republican National Convention in 2004.)

So get your bike gang back together and amass in Balboa Park near the Plaza de Balboa fountain near the Ruben Fleet Center at 6:30 p.m.

Meets the last Friday of every month.
