The Skinny
Based in Queens, NYC, this avant garde hip-hop quartet transcend the ever-present babble of packaged, styrofoam McRap. Closer in mentality to Vernon Reid rather than Ja Rule, the Anti-Pop Consortium survives and thrives on its sheer intelligence, without sacrificing the rhythm and flow. Beans has worked with Arto Lindsay, the aforementioned Vernon Reid and DJ Logic, while Priest runs Anti-Pop Recordings. "The Tragic Epilogue," the 2001 release from this furious four, has been picked up by the excellent 75 Ark Entertainment, home to Deltron 3030, The Nextmen, projects by Dan the Automator, Dr, Octagon and The Coup.
