January 26 marks the start of the year 4707 in the lunar calendar, the Year of the Ox in the Chinese zodiac. San Diego will celebrate this most important Chinese holiday with the 2009 Chinese New Year Food and Cultural Faire sponsored by the San Diego Chinese Center on February 7 and 8 outside the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum, in the Asian Pacific Historic District.
The free street festival will include: traditional lion and dragon dancing, award-winning Chinese acrobats, storytelling, children’s activities, martial arts performances, live music, and a parade of fabulous lanterns built by children.
